Ryan and I(Megan) started our creative journey in 2019. Ryan became interested in handmaking cutting boards, and I
found that a creative outlet was an amazing remedy for anxiety. I tried everything I could get my hands on including wood burning, furniture painting, decoupage, vinyl, felt flowers and the list goes on…
While Ryan’s cutting boards were gorgeous, they did not sell as we had hoped. My crafts were mostly gifts to family and friends at this point.
PIVOT
Looking for a new direction, Ryan realized he could make craft blanks for me that were better quality than what I was purchasing at the craft store. This led him to bringing home his first CNC machine and we opened our Etsy shop. Our
multi depth cut gnomes and flags were very popular. With the pandemic as with most of the supply chain, all the raw materials for these items became unavailable.
PIVOT
We added a laser cutting machine. We started www.shepaintsit.store! Over 100 products/designs are currently offered and the list is growing. We offer custom orders when you need that special wood blank. We love spending the time together to grow our small business and really enjoy getting to know so many talented crafters.
What is next for us?
We are going to keep making our wood blanks and trying new things. Maybe a new retail space someday? Possibly planning some local craft workshops in 2022.
